What Problems Can Veneers Correct?
Houston, TX

Image of a woman smiling after getting a dental veneer placed in her mouth, at Alexandra Garcia, DDS, MS in Houston, TX. Are you looking for ways to get a quick, beautiful smile? Dental veneers are perfect for individuals with gaps, chipped, or stained teeth. However, keep in mind that veneers are a permanent treatment, which means that you need to think long and hard about whether you want them.

What are Veneers?

Veneers are extremely thin shells made from materials that have the same color as natural teeth. They cover the front of the teeth to boost the appearance of your smile while making your natural tooth enamel stronger than it is. Veneers are customized to the shape of every patient’s teeth. Moreover, in-office procedures are used to bond the veneers to the tooth’s natural enamel. There are several materials veneers can be made from, including resin composite and porcelain.

What Problems Can Veneers Correct?

Stained Teeth

Have you tried every teeth whitening treatment available and are not satisfied with the results? In this case, you should definitely try veneers. Some people have naturally discolored teeth, while other peoples’ teeth do not respond well to teeth whitening procedures.

However, Dr. Garcia and Dr. Alexandra Garcia at Alexandra Garcia, DDS, MS can make porcelain veneers in any shade you want. If you want to go whiter than your natural color, you should definitely pay them a visit.

Bridge Gaps

While braces can be used to straighten teeth, they have limited benefits. Braces would not be a good option if your teeth naturally grow far apart. However, do not fear, as veneers can fix the imperfections in your smile. It doesn’t matter how far apart your teeth naturally grow; veneers can bring back your self-confidence and allow you to smile freely in public.

Fix Cracked Teeth

If you have cracked teeth, the good news is that you do not always have to live with them. Many people do not know this, but you do not always have to get a root canal or opt for dental implants if you have cracked teeth. Instead, veneers can be used to fix the cracks in your teeth, giving them a smooth, even appearance while preventing decay.

Veneers vs Dental Crowns

Veneers and dental crowns are different in the way they fit into the mouth and the purpose they are used for. Dental veneers can be attached to the front of the teeth, while dental crowns cover the whole tooth. Veneers allow the teeth to be more aesthetically pleasing because they do not show as much gum as crowns do. Crowns are thicker than dental veneers and are more permanent. Even though veneers will have to be replaced after a few years, crowns are supposed to last your entire life.

If you are deciding between whether to choose veneers or dental crowns, we recommend calling (346) 250-2930 to discuss your treatment options. Usually, dental crowns are recommended for damaged teeth, while veneers are recommended for cosmetic purposes.
