All-on-4® Treatment Concept
Houston, TX

A skeletal model of All-on-4 dental implants being attached at Alexandra Garcia, DDS, MS in Houston, TXIt is very common to lose teeth, especially as you get older. Many factors can contribute to tooth loss. Tooth decay and gum disease will often lead to tooth loss. Another reason why people can lose teeth is because of a fall or a sports accident. It is even possible to lose teeth just because of genetics.

If you are missing many teeth, you might think that your only option is dentures. That is not necessarily true. You could be a good candidate for All-on-4® Treatment Concept. The best way to find out what your options are is to come to see us here at Alexandra Garcia, DDS, MS. Tooth loss is nothing to be ashamed of, and it is also something that you do not need to live with.

Get a New Smile with the All-on-4 Treatment Concept

One great way to replace an entire set of teeth is with All-on-4 Treatment Concept. With this treatment, your new set of teeth are anchored into your jawbone using four dental implants. This can give you a brand new smile. Here is what you need to know about the procedure.

If you have any teeth remaining, we will extract them before we move ahead with the All-on-4. We will replace all of your teeth on top, or all of them on the bottom. For some patients in need of a full mouth reconstruction, we will replace both top and bottom teeth.

With All-on-4, we will use four titanium screws that will become the new roots of your teeth. That is four screws on the top and four screws on the bottom for a total of eight if we need to replace all of your teeth. You will receive temporary teeth for a while you are healing.

After the screws are set, we will give you your permanent teeth. These will be attached to the screws, and they will become your new permanent teeth.

The Benefits of All-on-4 Implants

One of the things that many patients like about All-on-4 are that there is a very good chance that you will not need a bone graft. Often with a traditional implant, we will need to do a bone graft because your jaw loses bone when you have lost a tooth or teeth. With All-on-4, we will place the screws at an angle so that they will be able to hold the new teeth in place without having a bone graft.

Another thing that is nice about All-on-4 is that they are comfortable. It will take some time to heal, but after you have healed, you will have new teeth that will look and feel like your natural teeth did way back when. You will be able to eat once again, and when you show your smile, no one will know that you do not have natural teeth.

All-On-4 vs Dentures

If you are getting dentures, the treatment will begin with removing the remaining teeth and allowing the gums to heal for three to six months. However, dentures can be placed immediately after teeth removal, given that the dentist ensures that the gums are healing correctly and swelling dissipates. The surgical procedure involving teeth removal and placement of dental implants requires almost four to six months to heal properly. This treatment takes longer to complete than dentures. However, it provides a more permanent and comfortable solution to your missing teeth.
