Ways Of Improving How Your Dental Implants HealIf you just got implants, congratulations! You are well on your way to having natural looking teeth! If you just had the procedure done, you may be wondering if there are things that you can do to make sure that your implants are a big success. We have some ideas.

You Need to Practice Good Oral Hygiene

The first thing that you can do to make sure that your implants are a success is to practice good oral hygiene. That means you need to brush and floss every day, twice a day. You also need to use mouthwash every day as well. The cleaner and fresher that you can keep your mouth, the better chance you have to keep your implants. You also need to make sure that you come and visit us twice a year, so that we can make sure that everything in your mouth is in the best condition possible.

It Is Important To Be Mindful Of Other Factors

Be sure that you are not clenching or grinding your teeth. This is a condition called bruxism, and it is very hard on your teeth, not to mention your implants. If you have had bruxism in the past, make sure that you are wearing a mouthguard at night to protect your implants.

If you smoke, you need to quit. You have a much better chance of keeping your implants if you are not using your tobacco products. That's because tobacco can cause bacteria to flourish, and can also constrict your blood vessels, which means that your implants will take longer to heal.

Finally, you will need to make sure that you protect your mouth from any trauma. If you play a sport, you will need to wear a mouthguard. The implants need to be protected until they are fully healed.

If you have any questions about getting an implant or healing after implant surgery, don't hesitate to call us.
